Ubitus will be contructing a major AI data centre in Maizuru City, Kyoto.
The project, backed by a large-scale investment grant from Japan’s Ministry of Economy, Trade and Industry, will leverage NVIDIA Blackwell GPUs and NeoCloud architecture to deliver high-efficiency computing for generative AI and large language models.
Expected to be complete in 2027, tt will span 2.3 hectares with phased development to scale capacity as AI demand grows.
Maizuru City was chosen for its stable power supply, disaster-resilient location, and strong port and logistics infrastructure. The project is expected to create local jobs, foster talent and accelerate AI adoption across tourism, culture, education, and enterprise sectors in Japan.
In the longer term, Ubitus aims to build a scalable, nationwide AI compute network that combines model development and infrastructure deployment to support Japan’s and East Asia’s AI ecosystem.
