Proofpoint acquires AI security startup Acuvity

Proofpoint has acquired Acuvity that will enable it to offer an integrated platform protecting people, data and AI agents across the agentic workspace.

Following the deal, enterprise customers will have deeper visibility and real‑time control over how humans and AI systems work together as organisations rush to deploy copilots, autonomous agents and AI‑driven applications.

The rise of generative AI has accelerated adoption of tools that can access sensitive data, execute tasks and make decisions, raising fears over shadow AI, data leakage, intellectual property loss and new attack types such as prompt injection and model manipulation.

By adding Acuvity’s AI‑native security capabilities, Proofpoint will help customers manage those risks without slowing down innovation or falling foul of regulatory and compliance requirements.

Acuvity’s technology brings new control points and detection models designed specifically for AI, spanning endpoints, web browsers and emerging infrastructure such as model context protocol servers and locally installed tools like OpenClaw and Ollama.

The platform can monitor and enforce policies on how users and systems interact with external AI services, while also safeguarding custom AI models and applications developed in‑house.

“AI agents are becoming active participants in the enterprise, accessing data, executing tasks and making decisions alongside people. By securing humans, defending data and governing AI through a unified platform, Proofpoint is uniquely positioned to protect the agentic workspace end to end — something no other cybersecurity company delivers today,” said Ryan Kalember (top), Chief Strategy Officer of Proofpoint.

“In an AI-accelerated world, intelligence is no longer confined to applications or infrastructure; it lives in interactions, decisions and autonomous agents acting on our behalf. Securing that future requires a new approach — one that governs how AI thinks, acts and learns in real time,” said Satyam Sinha, Co-founder and CEO of Acuvity.
