Hardwarezone (HWZ), a leading technology website and forum in Southeast Asia, was hacked with data of 685,000 registered users compromised.
The infringement was discovered on February 18 following a “suspicious posting”. An immediate check revealed that the incident by the unidentified hacker happened last November.
Thankfully, the stolen information only covered users’ full names, usernames and email addresses. Following Personal Data Protection Commission guidelines, HWZ removed NRIC numbers, telephone numbers and addresses from its database in July 2015.
