Amazon Web Services (AWS) has opened its new Asia Pacific hub in Singapore, underscoring the nation’s growing importance as a strategic hub for digital transformation in the region.
As the anchor tenant in IOI Central Boulevard’s East Tower, AWS will occupy more than 360,000 square feet of workspace, accommodating up to 3,000 employees. The move comes as part of AWS’ commitment to invest an additional S$12 billion into its existing cloud infrastructure in Singapore from 2024 to 2028.
“AWS’ new regional office in Singapore represents our deepening commitment to Singapore, and serves as a strategic hub for digital transformation across Asean,” said Jeff Johnson, Managing Director of Asean at AWS.
The investment is projected to contribute S$23.7 billion to Singapore’s Gross Domestic Product by 2028 and support an estimated 12,300 full-time equivalent jobs in Singapore each year.
The new office spans eight floors and will house more than 100 teams, including local and regional employees supporting AWS and other corporate functions. It features several unique elements designed to foster innovation and collaboration.
A key feature is AWS’ first flagship Executive Briefing Center in Asia, a purpose-built space for strategic discussions with enterprise customers and partners about their cloud journey. An AWS Asia-Pacific Innovation Hub will open in Q3 to inspire, educate and empower customers and partners on their innovation journey.
The office also showcases Amazon’s first Inclusion and Sustainability Gallery, which highlights the company’s key milestones and commitments through interactive exhibits. This gallery demonstrates Amazon’s progress in areas such as climate action, diverse hiring initiatives, community impact programmes, and sustainability innovations.
As a reflection of a blend of Amazon’s global culture and Asian heritage, meeting rooms and collaboration spaces are named after Asian landmarks and cultural icons.
