Facebook to build S$1.4b data centre in Singapore

Hot on the heels of Google’s announcement last month that it will build its third data centre in Singapore is Facebook, which declared today that it will be establishing its first Asia data centre in the country.

Located at Tanjong Kling, the S$1.4 billion data centre will be the social media giant’s 15th in the world. It is expected to start operations in 2022 and will eventually boast 170,000 square metres of floor space over 11 floors.

According to Thomas Furlong, Vice President of Infrastructure Data Centres at Facebook, Singapore was chosen for its robust infrastructure, access to fibre, a talented local workforce, and a great set of community partners.
