China Telecom has completed the Hong Kong landing of the Asia Link Cable (ALC) submarine system that expands regional data connectivity between Hong Kong and Singapore.
The marks an important step in building out the cable’s full route and adding more capacity to a network that supports digital traffic across Asia. It is significant because submarine cables carry the vast majority of international internet and data traffic.
Adding a new route improves resilience, supports faster data transfer and helps meet rising demand from cloud services, AI workloads and cross-border business activity.
Hong Kong remains a key digital gateway for the region, and the new landing reinforces its role in international connectivity.
As China Telecom’s first international submarine cable landing in Hainan, ALS expands Hainan’s international communications capacity toward Hong Kong, Macao and Southeast Asia.
