Ngee Ann Polytechnic will be integrating Check Point Software Technologies’ SecureAcademy programme into its Diploma in Cybersecurity & Digital Forensics curriculum.
Under a memorandum of understanding, the polytechnic’s School of InfoComm Technology will see about 100 students in the April 2026 semester take an enhanced Network Security module built around the Check Point Certified System Administrator curriculum.
The training will give students hands-on exposure to firewall technologies, VPNs, malware protection, security monitoring, network architecture, and encryption.
“Today’s increasingly complex threat landscape requires cybersecurity professionals to possess critical decision-making skills. By creating learning environments that reflect how cybersecurity teams operate in practice, our students build both the skills and confidence to effectively safeguard digital and enterprise infrastructure,” said Joel Yang, Director of the School of InfoComm Technology at Ngee Ann Polytechnic.
According to Eugene Liew, Course Chair of the diploma, students in the diploma don’t just learn individual tools, they learn how cybersecurity systems work together. “This integrated exposure across cloud, network and endpoint environments helps them to develop practical skills in tackling real-world cybersecurity challenges. Such comprehensive training will stand them in good stead to take on rewarding roles in this high-demand field.”
SecureAcademy is Check Point’s academic programme for institutes of higher learning, designed to integrate Check Point security solutions into existing curricula and provide courseware, instructor certification, software licences, and support at no cost to partner schools.
Check Point is providing a grant valued at S$60,000 that includes courseware, enterprise software licences for lab work, training for lecturers and access to virtual events with cybersecurity experts. It will also subsidise certification exams by 85 percent, reducing the fee from S$300 to S$45.
“Cybersecurity threats are escalating at an unprecedented rate, creating a sustained demand for skilled professionals across the industry,” said Rebecca Law, Singapore Country Manager of Check Point Software Technologies. “As an alma mater myself of a polytechnic education (in Electronics Engineering), institutions like Ngee Ann Polytechnic offer a university-like environment that fosters independence, collaboration and real-world problem-solving through hands-on curricula and co-curricular activities.”
