Apple to open first floating store in Singapore

At a time when many are struggling or closing shop, the newly-minted US$2 trillion Apple will be opening its third store in Singapore — right on the edge of the water near the iconic Marina Bay Sands (MBS).

No exact date has been announced but an Apple statement indicated “soon”.

“We will soon open the doors to our new store by the Bay. Apple Marina Bay Sands will be at the heart of creativity, a place we’ve made for you to capture your ideas and passions. It will be a space for you to explore, connect and create something new. We can’t wait to see where your imagination takes you,” said Apple on its Singapore website.

The new store will be located in a floating sphere near MBS. The site was occupied by Avalon nightclub from 2011 to 2016.

Apples’ first two Singapore stores are in the highly-acclaimed Jewel at Changi Airport and Knightsbridge mall in Orchard Road.
