Palo Alto Networks has introduced the Idira identity security platform for discovering, controlling and governing identity inside the enterprise, including human users, machine accounts and AI agents.
The launch comes as AI adoption reshapes enterprise access patterns, with more systems, services and autonomous agents requiring privilege to operate at scale.
Traditional identity tools were built for an era when elevated access was limited to a small set of users, but today’s environment demands continuous visibility and tighter controls across far more identities. A recent Palp Alto report showed that nine in 10 organisations experienced an identity-related breach in the past year, while machine and AI identities now outnumber humans 109 to 1.
Idira is built to discover identity risk, control every privilege and automate governance. It uses AI to surface identities, entitlements and access paths, then applies zero standing privilege and just-in-time enforcement to reduce exposure. The platform also turns compliance into governance by automating identity lifecycle controls.
“Identity has become the new battleground of the AI enterprise. By combining the deep expertise of the industry’s original PAM
pioneers with the unparalleled scale and speed of Palo Alto Networks, we are providing leaders with the precision and control necessary to govern the entire identity landscape and secure the future of innovation,” said Peretz Regev, Chief Product and Technology Officer of Idira at Palo Alto Networks.
