Baidu’s Apollo Go has partnered Swiss Post subsidiary PostBus to introduce the AmiGo on-demand autonomous mobility service in eastern Switzerland.
The collaboration integrates self-driving vehicles into the existing public transport network to enhance smart mobility across the region.
Initial testing of the pilot fleet will commence in December 2025 across the cantons of St Gallen, Appenzell Ausserrhoden, Appenzell Innerrhoden, and Thurgau.
The phased deployment will begin with mapping trips without passengers and with safety drivers on board. In H1 2026, select users will be invited to participate in pilot operations, still under safety supervision.
Driverless trials are expected to begin later in 2026, with regular fully autonomous operations targeted for launch by Q1 2027, pending fulfillment of all safety and quality requirements.
Level 4 AV
Apollo Go will deploy the RT6 Level 4 autonomous vehicle (AV) customised for the AmiGo platform. Each vehicle can seat up to four passengers and features a detachable steering wheel designed for removal once full autonomy is achieved.
The service will support both private rides and ride-pooling to optimise fleet utilisation and improve efficiency.
This partnership marks a significant milestone in Apollo Go’s global expansion, extending its footprint to Europe following successful operations in cities such as Abu Dhabi, Dubai and Hong Kong.
Apollo Go currently operates a fully driverless fleet of more than 1,000 vehicles worldwide and has accumulated more than 200 million autonomous kilometres.
