Matrix NAP Info upgrades Indonesia-Singapore subsea capacity

Matrix NAP Info has given Matrix Cable System’s (MCS) Batam–Jakarta submarine segment a terabit-class upgrade to strengthen one of the region’s most important connectivity paths linking Indonesia and Singapore.

It has successfully activated Ciena’s GeoMesh Extreme solution, powered by WaveLogic 6 Extreme coherent optics, across the 1,055km MCS link.

The deployment delivers 1Tb/s per wavelength on a live subsea segment, putting Matrix NAP Info among the first operators in Southeast Asia to commercially use the technology on an in-service submarine cable system.

The upgrade boosts capacity without the need for new cable builds, improving capital efficiency while supporting growing demand from cloud, AI and content delivery services.

The corridor serves as a critical digital bridge to global internet and cloud hubs via Singapore

“Activating 1Tb/s per wavelength on our Batam–Jakarta submarine segment is not simply a capacity upgrade — it is a statement about where Matrix NAP Info stands in the global connectivity landscape,” said Omar Syarif Nasution, Director of Matrix NAP Info.

“By deploying the most advanced coherent optical technology available, we are future-proofing Indonesia’s international connectivity backbone and ensuring that our customers have access to the bandwidth they need to compete in the AI and cloud era,” he added.
