Equinix and Cisco are partnering to build infrastructure enabling secure, sovereign AI access in Singapore to address growing concerns over cyber threats and data sovereignty in the region’s rapidly expanding AI ecosystem.
The collaboration leverages Equinix’s local data centre facilities as the foundation for integrated infrastructure supporting secure, high-performance AI workloads.
It represents an expansion of Equinix’s broader collaboration with Cisco and NVIDIA to deploy secure AI factories across its global data centre footprint of 280 facilities.
“Organisations scaling their AI ambitions need a foundation that is simple, secure and scalable. Our collaboration with Equinix simplifies how customers build their AI infrastructures so they can focus on driving business value and innovation,” said Bee Kheng Tay, President of Asean at Cisco.
In Singapore, the initiative focuses on creating infrastructure for sovereign AI access using local Equinix facilities to deliver secure connectivity, data sovereignty support and lower-latency AI access for enterprises building or scaling AI projects.
“As AI becomes more embedded in business strategies, organisations need to connect to their ecosystems, make informed decisions, and scale with confidence. Through our expanded collaboration with Cisco, we will help organisations extend their AI infrastructure from centralised data centres to distributed environments while keeping operational complexity in check,” said Yee May Leong, Managing Director of Singapore at Equinix.
This move aligns with Singapore’s shift from policy planning to actual deployment of AI, robotics, and surveillance technologies as cyber threats grow more sophisticated and borderless. The sovereign AI strategy involves investing in domestic infrastructure and partnerships to retain control over critical systems.
